Can I ask what the "RoleLookupPolicy" is for?

I get that RoleAdminPolicy allows adding/removing users from roles, but I can't see what RoleLookupPolicy does. If a user meets UserManagementPolicy they can see details of a user including what roles they are in, with or without RoleLookupPolicy. If user meets RoleLookupPolicy and not RoleAdminPolicy they cannot access /roleadmin Is there somewhere else roles might be looked up? PS this is not a problem, just puzzling me ;-)
